Earlier this week, the most commercially successful American Idol in the U.S., Carrie Underwood, released her newest single “Good Girl”. I absolutely love this song.
Sometimes Carrie’s vocals on records tend to be too textbook perfect. But in “Good Girl”, her vocals have never been as confident. Backed by loud guitars, Carrie’s voice manages to soar.
The chorus is perfectly crafted for both country radio and big arenas. You’d wanna sing along along. You’d wanna clap your hands. This is “Before He Cheats” amped up.
To some extent, “Good Girl” rehashes Carrie Underwood’s past work; “Undo It” and “Cowboy Casanova” have the same vibe. But if it ain’t broke, why fix it?
“Good Girl” is classic Carrie Underwood — it’s sassy, catchy and country — and is a worthy lead single. It probably won’t be a crossover hit, but it’s a good song to wet our appetite for Carrie’s next album. You can get “Good Girl” on iTunes now.
