Stefani Germanotta was once an unknown artist, working constantly on her dream of being a pop star, until she finally hit the big time. These days, she’s known as Lady Gaga, and she’s just about as mainstream as you can get. Other artists, however, have not been as lucky, and many of the best musicians out there are ones you may not have heard of. Here are five of our current favorites.

Filthy Dukes

London-based Filthy Dukes have managed to get some minor airplay here and there, but true mainstream acceptance has eluded them so far. It’s a shame, too, because they regularly churn out songs that are both catchy and radio-friendly. Too bad the radio stations haven’t caught on.
