Ugh, I can’t believe this is actually happening. Sia Furler, the amazing singer-songwriter from Australia, has collaborated with the annoyingly popular Flo Rida.
“Wild Ones” certainly has some nice moments — namely, the times when Sia sings her parts — but it remains mostly trashy, sounding a lot like 90% of what you hear on the radio right now. Even Sia’s parts were a tad boring; I can imagine any starlet singing Sia’s parts. “Wild Ones” is essentially just another over-produced, dance-infused track that’s about to dominate the Top 40 charts.
Now, some might say that Sia has officially sold out, but I don’t think that’s necessarily the case. Sia was able to elevate David Guetta‘s “Titanium”, so she probably genuinely thought she can do the same here. Unfortunately that’s not the case. While “Titanium” was a well-produced track that featured amazing vocals and a soaring chorus, “Wild Ones” is a rehash of everything that Flo Rida has done thus far.
I’m still holding out hope that Sia’s upcoming collaboration with Madonna is a good one. But if “Wild Ones” is any indication, it could very well be that the Aussie pop star is starting to lose some of that creative flair that her fans have grown to love.
